Educator Leaders

How do we develop educator leaders? How do we support those who are already acting as leaders? How can educator leaders help shape awareness of women's needs in literacy education?

  1. I'd like to think about what happens when we talk about leadership from our various positions (practitioner/learner) BUT ALSo think it's not just about WHO the leaders are, but rather what leadership looks like -- what is it that leaders do?

At times, many of us are leading, and are using leadership skills to move things forward - and at other times, we're learning from other leaders.

    What do other people think?

  3. I also wonder about those old cliches - those that lead by being vocal about what it is they are doing and trying to organize others, and those that might be leading by example. Is it a question of others doing a better job of listening to what some people are saying, even when they are not talking? For example, those that are living with balance, dignity and in solidarity with their community often may not be thought of as leaders if they don't call attention to what it is they are doing, but that might be because of people being focused on one model of change or organization.

    Does that makes sense?
